Welcome to our Discover Pilates Workshop page. Each workshop delves into common concerns that affect many of us, providing insights on how to safely and effectively use Pilates to support well-being. These sessions are designed to address common questions, offer guidance on helpful adaptations, and explore ways to complement your studio sessions with practices at home. We’re here to help you feel confident and empowered in your practice, both in and outside the studio.

Each workshop includes light refreshments and healthy snacks, an informative talk, and up to two matwork sessions, where you'll get to put everything you've learned into practice.

Moving Beyond Pain

Join us at The Pilates Studios at Lavant House for an inspiring and practical workshop designed to help you move beyond chronic pain and reclaim your body and life. Everyone’s experience of pain is unique and valid, and our expert presenters will guide you through mat-based sessions that explore simple ways to adapt and modify Pilates exercises to suit your individual needs, allowing you to enjoy movement in a way that works for your body. Special guest speaker Trish Formby will explain the mechanisms behind chronic pain, pain expectation, and fear avoidance, showing you how to reframe your relationship with pain and take control of your wellbeing. Discover effective techniques to ease discomfort, build resilience, and reconnect with joyful movement.

Trish Formby is a Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates specialist, and author of Body Fit, Body Fix. With decades of experience treating a diverse range of clients from actors and musicians to elite athletes and everyday individuals of all ages. Trish combines deep expertise with genuine compassion. Her clinical approach is grounded in biomechanics and a thorough understanding of functional movement, underpinned by a strong belief in the healing power of education and functional movement.
